Art Work - an insight into the Sculptor Daphne Wright

Following ‘Art Work – An Insight into the Art World’ and ‘Artwork – An Insight into Photojournalism’, the gallery is pleased to announce the third edition of our Art Work series.

Studying at university may not necessarily mean that you will have a career in the subject that you study and many people worry about the uncertainty of an art, design or media degree. However, education opens doors to a multitude of careers; the media and communication world is made up of many specialists. Some roles you may never have heard of.

This Art Work session will respond to the current exhibition, ‘Qwaypurlake’, which features work by the sculptor Daphne Wright. Daphne will be here to meet students who are interested in sculpture, to tell them about her work, her career as an artist and give a tour of her work in the current exhibition.

This event is aimed at young people who are studying Foundation Art and Design. Students may attend with art tutors, parents or alone.

Daphne Wright is an artist known for her unsettling yet poignant sculptural installations. Using a wide range of materials – plaster, tinfoil, video, printmaking, found objects and performance – she creates worlds that are beautiful and rather eerie which feel like the threshold to somewhere new. Wright has exhibited nationally and internationally, with works held in permanent collections at the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow, Hamburger Kunsthalle, Germany, Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin and Towner Art Gallery, Sussex. Daphne Wright is represented by Frith Street Gallery, London.

This is a free event, however advanced booking is essential as there are limited places. To book a place please email celeste@hauserwirth.com or call +44 1749 81 4060.
