Between Space

Monya Rowe Gallery is pleased to announce the summer group exhibition titled “Between Space” featuring Lacey Black, Dana Blume, Marin Majić, Carson Monahan, Sarah Pater, Marcelle Reinecke, Bryan Rogers, Hannah Rust, Calli Ryan and Lily Taylor.

The exhibition “Between Space” examines the way enclosed environments amplify isolated objects or figures evoking a heightened sense of introspection, mood or atmosphere. Objects confined within an empty space can convey a profound emotional response. There is beauty in capturing stillness. Sequestered figures set in confined interiors suggests mystery and reflection, while also exploring existential themes. The viewer’s focus is brought entirely to the subject thereby heightening its’ importance and meaning. The exact meaning, often unclear, may be soothing, menacing or a combination of both. The artists in this exhibition each delineate this heightened awareness in a myriad of challenging ways.
