Exhibition
in Bern / Switzerland
In the exhibition “Event Collider”, Cameron MacLeod and Magnhild Øen Nordahl examine the intersection between physical and virtual space. Through overlaying and synchronizing a virtual skin over physical objects they build an augmented virtuality experience. Duplicate sculptures exist both in physical form and in virtual space, and the audience is invited to experience these simultaneously with the aid of a VR headset. Audience members participate in the work by interacting with physical objects in order to trigger events that are visible in virtual reality.
“Event Collider” is Cameron MacLeod (CA) and Magnhild Øen Nordahl’s (NO) first collaborative art project. They have co-founded Aldea center for Contemporary Art, Design and Technology in Bergen, of which MacLeod is the director. MacLeod also runs Aldea’s sister organization Platform in Stockholm, and has created various digital infrastructures for artists, notably the curating software “Curatron”. Nordahl recently enrolled in a PHD at the University of Bergen this fall and her next upcoming show will be at Maki Fine Art in Tokyo, Japan later this year.
