All 16 exhibited artists have an in-depth knowledge of printing techniques and photographic processes dating back to the early 19th century. Their craftsmanship, the special care they take in selecting the paper, and the high quality of the prints go beyond the technical aspect: they give the works a haptic and sensual quality. The photographic print is no longer just an image of a captured section of the world around us; it changes and refines the ordinary and becomes part of the artistic value.
The spectrum includes early techniques from the 19th century: cyanotypes by the Japanese artist Mika Horie, chine-collé prints on two different papers by Paul Cupido and Miriam Tölke, photograms by Rachel Thomson, photopolymer etchings by Chantal Elisabeth Ariëns, and breath-taking platinum palladium prints by Jeffrey Conley, Flor Garduño and Gregor Törzs.
The exhibition also features new, innovative printing techniques that combine historical knowledge with a playful, experimental approach, including lithographs of historical images on used glacier protection textile by Douglas Mandry, pigment prints on gampi paper over gold leaf by Albarrán Cabrera, and Joost Vanderbrug‘s monotypes created by transferring photo emulsion to paper.
The group exhibition at Bildhalle is accompanied by a solo presentation of Margaret Lansink in the showroom. The Dutch artist is the winner of the prestigious “Hariban Award”, which honors special achievements and skills in the art of printing.

Alle 16 Künstler:innen haben ein vertieftes Wissen über Drucktechniken und fotografische Verfahren, die bis ins frühe 19. Jahrhundert zurückreichen. Ihr handwerkliches Geschick, die besondere Sorgfalt bei der Auswahl des Papiers und die hohe Qualität der Prints gehen über den technischen Aspekt hinaus: sie verleihen den Werken eine haptische und sinnliche Qualität. Der fotografische Abzug ist nicht mehr nur ein Abbild eines eingefangenen Ausschnitts der uns umgebenden Welt, er verändert, verfeinert oder veredelt das Gewöhnliche und wird Teil des künstlerischen Wertes.
Das Spektrum umfasst frühe Techniken aus dem 19. Jahrhundert: Cyanotypien der japanischen Künstlerin Mika Horie, Chine-collé-Drucke auf zwei verschiedenen Papieren von Paul Cupido und Miriam Tölke, Photogramme von Rachel Thomson, Photopolymer-Radierungen von Chantal Elisabeth Ariëns oder atemberaubende Platinum-Palladium-Prints von Jeffrey Conley, Flor Garduño und Gregor Törzs.
Die Ausstellung zeigt aber auch neue, innovative Drucktechniken, die historisches Wissen mit einem spielerisch-experimentellen Ansatz verbinden: darunter Lithografien historischer Bilder auf gebrauchtem Gletschertuch von Douglas Mandry, Pigmentdrucke auf Gampi-Papier über Blattgold von Albarrán Cabrera oder die Monotypien von Joost Vanderbrug, die durch Transfer von Fotoemulsion auf Papier entstehen. Die Gruppenausstellung in der Bildhalle wird begleitet durch eine Einzelpräsentation von Margaret Lansink im Showroom. Die holländische Künstlerin ist Gewinnerin des bedeutenden “Hariban Award”, der besondere Leistungen und Fähigkeiten in der Kunst des Printens auszeichnet.
