Discussion: Herstory - Rebecca Fontaine-Wolf

We are delighted to welcome artist and Vice President to the Society of Women Artists, Rebecca Fontaine-Wolf. Based in London, Fontaine-Wolf is principally known for her figurative paintings in which she explores themes surrounding female identity, desire and mortality. Her continually evolving practice, rooted in the traditions of portraiture, takes inspiration from Vanitas painting and mythology amongst many other sources.

The Society of Women Artists was founded in 1855 to celebrate and promote art created by women. Since 1857 it has held an annual open exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London, for which Fontaine-Wolf sits on the selection panel. During this event Fontaine-Wolf will discuss her work for the society and why The Society of Women Artists remains so relevant over 150 years on.

“Herstory” is a series of events running throughout the exhibition, ‘Unconscious Landscape. Works from the Ursula Hauser Collection’, where we invite inspirational women from the art world to share their stories, initiatives, and inspirations. Each event begins with a glass of wine on the Roth Bar & Grill terrace, followed by an informal talk in the gallery’s bookshop.

This is a free event, but must be booked in advance.

Read on the exhibition “Unconscious Landscape – Works from the Ursula Hauser Collection”.
