James Cohan is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by Elias Sime, his eventh solo exhibition with James Cohan.
In this exhibition, Elias Sime features new wall-based ceramic and carved stone artworks alongside woven electrical wire assemblages from the artist’s ongoing “Tightrope” series. Sime is an avid maker whose sculptural practice continues to evolve in form and material. The resulting compositions suggest topographies, encoded symbols, and abstract fields, echoing both the physical infrastructure of cities and the invisible networks that bind contemporary life. Though materially distinct, the spirit of the original electronic works remains intact. Sime continues to dissolve hierarchies between old and new, organic and manufactured, technological and handmade.
