After 30 years of international experience, the realization of more than 400 exhibitions and participation in international art fairs, Mario Mauroner Contemporary Art opened a 1.200 sqm exhibition space on two levels in the center of Vienna in 2004. Ten years later we expanded to create our project space All About Art, which focuses on interdisciplinary projects.
The exhibition “Figuras” is situated at the interface of art and design and contrasts, enriches and strengthens both presented positions: Aldo Bakker and Joan Hernández Pijuan. Whereas the Dutch artist (*1971) Aldo Bakker is driven in his creative process by his fascination with form, Joan Hernández Pijuan (1931-2005), who was one of the most important painters in contemporary Spanish art, reduced the chromaticity as well as the content of his paintings to its quintessence. It is the line in its perfection that unites both presentations.
Aldo Bakker’s sketches, which he calls “Notes”, will be exhibited alongside a selection of objects from the last decade, such as Tonus or a new Urushi table and stool, that perfectly arise in light of the reduced paintings by Joan Hernández Pijuan. The abstract perfection of the paintings underline Aldo Bakker’s harmonious form, or as Jan Boelen emphasizes in the catalogue “Creatures”: “The function, the form and the material come together as inextricably connected elements in Aldo Bakker’s designs.”
The exhibition “Figuras” takes place on the occasion of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2015.

Die Ausstellung “Figuras” befindet sich an der Schnittstelle von Kunst und Design und kontrastiert, bereichert und stärkt die beiden präsentierten Positionen: Aldo Bakker und Joan Hernández Pijuan. Während der holländische Künstler Aldo Bakker wegen seiner Faszination für Formen den Weg des kreativen Prozesses eingeschlagen hat, reduziert der spanische Maler Pijuan sowohl die Farbigkeit als auch den Inhalt seiner Gemälde bis hin zur Quintessenz. Die Linie in ihrer Perfektion verbindet beide Präsentationen. Aldo Bakkers Skizzen, welche er “Notes” nennt, werden gemeinsam mit einer Auswahl an Objekten ausgestellt und von Pijuans Gemälden perfekt untermalt.
