Glen Baldridge - Seer

Glen Baldridge presents a new work in Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery’s annex space: a single-channel video projection. Here, he assembles still images shot by a motion activated camera placed in the rural Rhode Island woods over a period of weeks. Baldridge keeps the motion detector on a sensitive setting, and the camera shutter is triggered by movements as slight as wind or insects flying by, resulting in a majority of the stills depicting an empty landscape. The ensuing time-lapse animation of the images creates a contemplative and fixating montage. Using the same imagery as Baldridge’s layered drawing and print-based works, this presentation in a time-based medium furthers his view onto the forest setting. The sun and moon are central figures as seen through the trees, and act as markers of the passage of time.
