Jan Vorisek - Rented Bodies

For Jan Vorisek’s first solo exhibition, “Rented Bodies”, at the ground floor gallery space is populated by a single installation that is comprised of objects which utilise ‘noise’ as a presiding component.

Vorisek’s site-specific installation is a continuation and revisiting of oscillating modes of experimentation significant to the artist’s practice. The installation is both ephemera and documentation; an examination of apparent formal hierarchies. This methodology is a transference of the artist’s on-going investigation into art production.

The dust pad (a motif from previous works) provides an elevation of the dust particle to a singular, albeit unseeable, emblem. The nothingness of dust; fragments of skin, pollen or exhaust, settles down, particle participation; these elements in conjunction demarcate the ‘rented bodies’.

The red thread is the lack of, or nomadic, studio. It is intertwined via the laptop or the metal/mental workshop and neither falters nor concludes in the exhibition space. These techniques of production are levelled; old and new elements are recycled, actualised, unused or put back into the cache. The installation is an action of filtration and constant expansion in turn becoming a spatial response. ‘Noise’ is merely another material and is given the similar treatment as light or dust; it reacts or doesn’t. Evidently, all is in flux, repurposed as a ‘delay machine’. Open sourced and open ended.
