MOVED

In October, Taka Ishii Gallery will relocate to complex665 in Roppongi, where it will continue to further expand and enrich its activities as a contemporary art gallery. In correspondence to the opening of the new space, the gallery is pleased to present the inaugural exhibition “MOVED,” a group exhibition featuring 20 artists. The exhibition brings together latest works by a collection of Japanese and foreign artists represented by the gallery, ranging from masters of Japanese photography to leading Western figures in the recent contemporary art scene, painters who pursue their own unique pictorial expressions, a performance artist who continues to inherit and communicate the avant-garde spirit of the ’50s through his work, and the next generation of artists who’s works effortlessly transcend the framework of existing mediums.

Participating Artists
Ei Arakawa, Nobuyoshi Araki, Thomas Demand, Elmgreen & Dragset, Luke Fowler, Mario García Torres, Tomoo Gokita, Naoya Hatakeyama, Nobuya Hoki, Zon Ito, Yuki Kimura, Shinpei Kusanagi, Yukinori Maeda, Daido Moriyama, Kyoko Murase, Silke Otto-Knapp, Sterling Ruby, Kei Takemura, Hirofumi Toyama, Cerith Wyn Evans

The gallery created on the third floor of the newly built complex665, is an expansive space measuring a floor area of 108-square-meters and a ceiling height of 3.5-meters, with a view overlooking the terrace. In addition, a viewing room was created on the ground floor of the building. The interior was designed by broadbean and the selection and arrangement of plants on the terrace was overseen by Sequoia Works. We look forward to welcoming visitors to this new space along with Tomio Koyama Gallery (2F), Shugo Arts (2F) and broadbean (1F) who will also relocate their base of activities to complex665.
