The Bedroom Show

Monya Rowe Gallery is excited to announce a group exhibition titled “The Bedroom Show” featuring Polina Barskaya, Coady Brown, Genevieve Cohn, Carlo D’Anselmi, Aubrey Levinthal, Kayla Mattes, Emily Marie Miller, Sophia Narrett, Justin Liam O’Brien, Gretchen Scherer and Anastasiya Tarasenko.

“The Bedroom Show” pays homage to one of art history’s most persistent subjects. Some of the most iconic artworks in the canon are situated in a bedroom. Arguably the most famous bedroom is Vincent van Gogh’s modest room at Arles titled “The Bedroom” (1888). Other seminal works are Edward Hopper’s “Morning Sun” (1952), picturing a pensive woman gazing out of a bedroom window; Robert Rauschenberg’s “Combine Bed” (1955); and Tracey Emin’s confessional “My Bed” (1998). By situating works in bedrooms, artists are able to present an intimate view of the world. “The Bedroom Show” gives the humble bed the significance it deserves.
