- Mike Glier, Photo Mark Pickthall
Join Artist-in-residence Mike Glier on a local walk around Bruton and Wyke Champflower. Glier will talk about how the images for his paintings evolve from plein-air drawings and colour notes on this very route.
During his residencies in Somerset, Glier has been enchanted by the spectacular views and pathways of this landscape. He is inspired by the shape of the valley, the motion of the wind over the hill, the lowing of the cattle, and the acrobatic trajectory of swallows hunting over newly mown fields. These observations have informed paintings such as ‘Crying Beasts’ and ‘Swallows Hunting’.
The walk will begin and end at the Maltings studio, West End, Bruton, Somerset, BA10 0BB. Please meet at 11 am and wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
All participants are invited to take part in a studio visit with Mike Glier following the walk.
This is a free event, but must be booked in advance.
