Workshop: Somerset Winter Workshop: Sculptural Tapestry

Taking inspiration from the work of Louise Bourgeois, this exciting tapestry workshop is suitable for intermediate students and complete beginners. The daylong course is a chance to get a taste for weaving, learning how to use tapestry as sculpture. The workshop will have a flexible approach and students can pick from a range of options, from weaving a pattern to be made into a 3D object after the weaving is complete, to weaving holes or shaping tapestry. Students can also learn embellishing techniques. The group will work on a pre-warped tapestry frame.

We will supply the following materials for use on the day
Wooden tapestry frame (these are also available to buy for £20.00)
One bobbin (also available to buy from the tutor at £22.00)
One G-clamp
Scissors
Warp and weft yarn

Students should a bring pen and paper for taking notes. There will also be handouts so you may want to bring a folder for these.
