An Objective Tragedy: Reading by artist Valentin Hauri and scholar Raphael Tandler
Having been fascinated by the beautiful mind of Henry Darger for well over three decades, Valentin Hauri will read his text “An Objective Tragedy” which oscillates between passages taken from Henry Darger’s 15,000-page fantasy manuscript The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What Is Known as the Realms of the Unreal […] and his own musings on Darger’s paintings and painting at large.
In both English and German with an English script available on site.
Raphael Tandler is currently finishing his MA in literature and philosophy at the University of Zurich. He’s the assistant of Prof. Elisabeth Bronfen, and he manages the Karlheinz Weinberger foundation in Zurich.
Valentin Hauri is an artist living and working in Zurich.

A documentary on Henry Darger, visionary artist, janitor, and novelist, from Academy Award winning director Jessica Yu. It features interviews with Darger’s neighbors as well as narrations and animations of his writings and work.
