Herstory: Marjorie Martay
“Herstory” is a series of events running throughout the exhibition, ‘Unconscious Landscape. Works from the Ursula Hauser Collection’, where we invite inspirational women from the art world to share their stories, initiatives, and inspirations. Each event begins with a glass of wine on the Roth Bar & Grill terrace, followed by an informal talk in the gallery’s bookshop.
We are delighted to welcome Marjorie Martay, an artist, curator and publishing entrepreneur, who joins us to discuss her initiatives ArtW and Women We Create. Marjorie will be joined by Alice Workman, Senior Director of Cultural Centres Europe and Debbie Hillyerd, Director of Education, who will discuss these themes with Marjorie in relation to their experiences at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.
Marjorie Martay founded ArtW as a non- profit organisation committed to promoting women working across creative disciplines by means of advocacy, curation and education. Through a combination of awareness – raising campaigns, educational panels and tours, salon discussions series, and professional curation services, ArtW aims to bring collectors, curators and art enthusiasts together with notable women artists from around the world.
Women We Create is an organisation which customises experiential global journeys to celebrate women in all artistic disciplines, by offering individuals who are passionate about the arts a view into this intimate world of female artists who paint, sculpt, dance, cook, produce and create music and theatre.
This is a free event, but must be booked in advance.
