‘The Wonder Stones have come hurtling out of the sky, trailing magnetic mystery in their wake. They have landed right here at Hauser & Wirth Somerset setting invisible forces in motion and creating just the right conditions for powerful stories to grow. Close on their heels are the enigmatic Stone Herders, ready to use their unique and ancient techniques to harvest each wonder-filled story.’
This Easter, Hauser & Wirth Somerset welcomes “The House of Fairy Tales” back to Durslade Farm for another interactive adventure for the whole family. The weekend’s activities will lead visitors on a mysterious trail through the galleries, garden and pavilion, inspired by Subodh Gupta’s current exhibition ‘Invisible Reality’. Join “The House of Fairy Tales” for two days of colourful investigation, live characters, puppetry, game-playing, story-seeking, and music. Help them gather enough story telling energy to continue on their endless journey and earn yourself the title of ‘Honorary Stone Herder’.
“The House of Fairy Tales” have commissioned five artists to join their clan for the weekend, responding to the themes of wonder, story-telling and making the invisible visible. Each unique workshop, challenge or task will encourage visitors to engage with the artwork and environment at the gallery, whilst entwining themselves within the mythical culture of ‘The Stone Herders’ and earning the right to join as honorary members.
This is a free event and booking is not essential, just simply turn up and enjoy the adventure. Children should be accompanied by adults at all times.
The Roth Bar & Grill will be serving refreshments throughout the afternoon at the Radić Pavilion, as well as their usual service within the restaurant and bar.
“The House of Fairy Tales” is a national children’s arts charity that exists to engage with young people of all ages from any socio-economic or cultural background and any religion. Central to “The House of Fairy Tales” is the belief that providing imaginative spaces to learn and play is not just about creating happy children but happy families, healthier communities and a thriving society too.
Artists participating in this project include: Tim Godwin, Harriet Fink, Oliver Wallace, Vicky Willmott and Hattie Worboys.
